Take a scenic drive from Cusco to the Sacred Valley, visiting en-route the beautiful Maras salt mines, Moray (Inca terraces), and Ollantaytambo archaeological site. On day two transfer to Ollantaytambo train station where you’ll board the Hiram Bingham luxury train to Machu Picchu. Enjoy first-class service and panoramic windows, pass through the breathtaking Sacred Valley, which is encircled by undulating hills and beautiful scenery.

Day 1: Sacred Valley Exploration & Horse Dance Show

Visit to Maras Salt Mines and Moray

Arrival at Aguas Calientes and Transfer to Machu Picchu
Arriving at Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Village) at 12:24 PM, you will be escorted by your Hiram Bingham tour guide to an exclusive Hiram Bingham charter bus for a 25-minute scenic drive up to the entrance of the Machu Picchu citadel. Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes town, you will be welcomed by our staff, and after giving you some instructions, you may have some free time to explore the town, eat, or freshen up before taking the bus up to Machu Picchu citadel. Your Machu Picchu ticket will provide access to the Machu Picchu tour circuit (usually Circuit 01 or 02, subject to availability). Our knowledgeable local tour will be there waiting for you to start your guided tour for about a 2.5-hour exploration of the Inca citadel, explaining the history, architecture, and significance of key monuments like the Temple of the Sun and Intihuatana Stone. This is a good opportunity to ask as many questions as you can to know more about Inca’s civilisations.
Afternoon Tea and Return Journey
After your guided tour, enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the luxurious Tinkuy restaurant at Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, where you’ll have access to Wi-Fi and can unwind with a cup of tea, delicious snacks, and desserts. At 4:00 PM, board the charter bus back to Aguas Calientes for your return to the train station.

Afternoon Tea and Return Journey

At 4:00 PM, board the bus back to Aguas Calientes for your return to the train station.
At 5:50 PM, board your luxury train back to Poroy or Belmond Rio Sagrado or Ollantaytambo Train Station. Enjoy the luxurious train service with a relaxing ride through the Sacred Valley. Upon arrival at any of those stations, our staff will meet you and escort you on your return trip by private car to Cusco, where your luxury Machu Picchu day trip concludes.
