Day 1: Sacred Valley Exploration & Glamping Experience

Morning Departure from Cusco

Begin your adventure with an early departure from Cusco to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The drive takes about 1.5 hours, offering stunning views of the Andean landscapes. The Sacred Valley is famous for its Inca villages, archaeological sites, and breathtaking scenery, making it a must-visit destination on your way to Machu Picchu.

Visit to Maras Salt Mines & Moray

Your first stop will be the Maras Salt Mines, an ancient site where traditional Inca salt extraction techniques are still in use today. The Maras Salt Pans create a stunning landscape with rows of white salt pools.

Afterward, visit the nearby Moray archaeological site, known for its circular agricultural terraces that were likely used by the Incas for agricultural experimentation. Explore the terraces and learn about their significance in Inca history and agricultural development.

Lunch in Urubamba

Evening at Your Glamping Site

Enjoy a delicious dinner at your glamping site, often featuring gourmet Peruvian dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. After dinner, unwind and enjoy the tranquility of the Sacred Valley, stargazing under the clear Andean sky.

Day 2: Machu Picchu Guided Tour

Morning Departure from Glamping Site

Check out of your glamping site early in the morning and head to Ollantaytambo (approximately 1 hour from Moray), where you’ll catch the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town).

The PeruRail or Inca Rail train offers a scenic journey that lasts 1.5-2 hours, passing through beautiful landscapes and the Sacred Valley, with views of snow-capped mountains and lush greenery.

Arrival in Aguas Calientes & Shuttle to Machu Picchu

Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes, take a shuttle bus to Machu Picchu (around 30 minutes). The bus ride provides incredible views as you approach the entrance to Machu Picchu, one of the most iconic Inca sites in the world.

Machu Picchu Guided Tour

Explore Machu Picchu, the UNESCO World Heritage site, with an expert Machu Picchu tour guide. Your guide will take you through the highlights of the site, including the Temple of the Sun, Intihuatana Stone, Inca Bridge, and other key landmarks.

Machu Picchu guided tours typically last 2-3 hours, during which you’ll learn about the history, culture, and significance of the ancient city. It’s an unforgettable experience at one of the world’s most famous historical landmarks.

Lunch in Aguas Calientes

After your guided tour of Machu Picchu, return to Aguas Calientes for a delicious lunch. The town offers a variety of options to enjoy local Peruvian dishes in a charming setting.

Afternoon Return to Ollantaytambo & Cusco

In the afternoon, board your return train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo. The scenic journey back will give you one last opportunity to enjoy the stunning views of the Sacred Valley.

Once in Ollantaytambo, take a private transfer or bus back to Cusco (around 2 hours). You’ll arrive in Cusco by evening (around 7:00-8:00 PM).

If you have available time to add an additional tour, such as a city tour, a visit to the Rainbow Mountain, a visit to Humantay Lake, an experiential tour, or any other tour of your preference, we can add that activity to your itinerary and recalculate the rate.

Important note:

The glamping experience is available from March 15th to January 3rd.

  • Tents equipped with heating, spring mattresses, feather duvets, polar blankets, alpaca blankets, nightstands, cushions, towels, central table, and typical Andean details.
  • Shared bathrooms with modern finishes and hot water from a solar thermal system. They also provide shampoo, conditioner, soap, and a hairdryer.
  • The dining areas are the homes of the local families, which may vary in size and finishes. It is important to note that it is these families who are opening the doors of their homes to us.

Recommendations or Essential Tips for Visiting Machu Picchu

  • Bring Your Identification Document or Passport
    Ensure you bring the passport or ID used to purchase your Machu Picchu tickets. It’s required for entry to the site, and you’ll need to present it when checking in at the entrance.
  • Arrive Early at the Train Station
    To ensure a smooth journey, arrive at the train station at least 30 minutes before departure. This will give you ample time to check in and prepare for the scenic ride to Aguas Calientes.
  • Limit Your Luggage
    When traveling to Machu Picchu, keep in mind that only 5 kg (11 lbs) of luggage is allowed on the train to Machu Picchu. Travel light to make your journey more comfortable.
  • Pack Smart for the Day
    We recommend carrying a small backpack with essentials for your Machu Picchu visit, including:
  • Camera to capture stunning views.
  • A hat to protect yourself from the sun.
  • Sunscreen to prevent sunburn.
